Worst Mistake In Landscape Photography

Keep The Horizon Level

In landscape photography for me the biggest turn off is if someone asks me to look at their photo of a landscape and it has a crooked horizon. Even a millimeter can ruin a photo. The human eye cannot spot it, and the brain cannot pinpoint what it does not like about the photo. Also, this is one step in the difference between a photograph and a snapshot...try to shoot a level shot in-camera as cropping later will affect the photo to some degree.

How To Maintain A Level Horizon

There is sometimes a level located on your tripod or else one can be purchased from a camera supply store. for me I use the Grid system in camera and this is invaluable to a perfect horizon. Pull out the manual to enable this feature.

By taking the time to correctly line up your horizon it will make an enormous difference to your end product.
